F.S hearts Luella!

Luella SS/09

Luella has always been a favourite of mine, and every new season I wait in anticipation for the shows to see then next big thing that she has to deliver.

The past two seasons have been really good; for her and for myself and I always look to her for wardrobe ideas amongst other flourishing innovative designers. I really liked the past S/S collection which was a kind-of 'American fifties' inspired collection with punky-english references.
It was cute and ultra-chic and translated very well on the catwalk and highstreet throughout spring and summer. I also really enjoyed the 'batman motif' printed tees and florals which were absolutely to-die-for and I actually almost did because I overindulged on the trend. This collection also featured some very darling promo dresses, mini ruffle skirts, green plaid and peter pan colared blouses and dresses. For some designers, good delivery is not always as frequent but with Luella I've found myself excited, intrigued and pleased with her work season after season.

Autumn/Winter saw Luella's girls working some quirky witchy hat and very pale-faced, with crimped hair and goth lips. But looking beyond all that were very delightful smock dresses, well tailored bottoms including jodphurs, fitted black and red checks in the form of skirts and jackets and cutesy blouses that were fantasical but wearable chic.

Reflecting back on Luella (previous collections)

A/W08-09
Favs: Black and red checks, Sheers and Chiffons and puffed sleeves

SS/08
Favs: Batman logo tees, flower prints dress and green plaids

For S/S09 emerged a colour popping collection of tango orange, purples, blues and bubblegum pink setting a very vibrant and bright mood at Luella. The layered and ruffled skirts really took it to the next level for me and I was reminded why I love Luella so much by the way she constantly mixs prints and shades that one would never imagine putting together alone in a way that actually works.

Spring/Summer 2009

Favs: The soft pink floral top totally works with the bubblegum pink and lavender stripe pants (See top image) and the Lavender prom dress with caging effects dress is oh-so adorable (Above second).
