At Paris couture week, soft palettes and light delicate fabrics really stood out especially at Chanel and Elie Saab. I really liked Chanel's collection this time round and appreciated the fact that there was very little and almost no black at all in this collection. Chanel took a really strong turn this season and kept far that strong Chanel signature that we have all so learned to recognise and love. However, it still maintained it's heritage in the fact that it was a modern take on Chanel. Looking at the collection on first glance, you could almost feel as if it were designed by a completely different designer who had taken the inspiration from The House of Chanel when in actual fact it was a Chanel collection. It was beautiful, elegant, young and so relevant to SS/10.
Moving on to Elie Saab who stuck to his forte this season and creating amazing red-carpet worthy evening wear, it was a wow factor all on it own. His use and application of lace and embellishment in his designs for this particular collection was intriguing. This collection of dress after dress had some really extraordinary styles and detail which was impeccable and executed to perfection. Again, as on the Chanel runway, the shades kept to a light/pale palette of mouth-watering colours that made me think of ice-cream and cake fronting.
