(Above) Alexander McQueen A/W10, Angel shoe
Time flies and earlier today was thinking about the fast changing of the fashion season's as we gradually move into the AW/10 season and look-forward Spring/Summer11 shows. It got me thinking about Alexander McQueen and reminded me of his previous and last collection which was inspired by 'Angels and Demons'. This collection included a selection amazing shoes that were very grand and theatrical in polished and fine leather with metallic finishes. Wings featured embroidered in gold and silver thread while heels were sky-high stilettos or alternatively sculpted into twigs, flowers, feathers and leaves. This collection had the fashion world week at its knee's purely because of its beauty and you can most certainly tell Lee McQueen put his heart and soul into this collection.
The intricate detail on these pieces is utterly astonishing and the couture-like quality of McQueen's RTW Collection's had come to be expected. It saddens me that his next collection won't be by him and I'm not as excited about it but, what I do hope that his vision and spirit will continue live on and shine through the McQueen brand. He will always be remebered for his ingeniousness for many decades to come.
