Optical prints: SS/09

Vibrant hues, quirky shapes and the key silhouettes...

At Basso and Brooke a full on optical assault featured clashing brights such as oranges, purple and blue. Accessories followed suit, in brilliant Technicolor on the spring/summer runways. This is a mood-lifting look that is positive, confident, perfect and so now. My favourite highstreet piece so far? Bay's kaleidoscopic bubble mini-skirt.

From psychedelic swirls and fractals to pixellated patterns, this seasons prints have a striking, computer generated quality. I particularly picked this skirt from Bay because of its outstanding and vibrant colours and its puff-ball-like shape. Perfect for day or night, you can accessorise it according to the colours on the print or go bare as the graphic really stands out and speaks for itself. Dizzying graphic patterns either multi-coloured or monochrome give a modern brilliance to any dress, skirt, pair of leggings or top this season. I chose to pair mine with a plain black Tee, black tights, black heels and a patent black belt for a modern day look that can be carried on into the evening. Just add an oversized envelope clutch topped off with a cocktail ring and you'll be ready to party. The blazer is also perfect for day or work as it adds a bit of class and sophistication to the look. The best thing about this skirt particularly the print is that you can do so much more with it so, why don't you let your imagination run wild with an energetic clash of graphic prints fused with colour on cutting edge silhouettes and look fabulous this Spring/Summer.
