A/W09-10: Mary Katrantzou
What an amazing début collection Mary Katrantzou presented at London Fashion Week for the Autumn/Winter season and her graphics especially that she used to adorn the fabrics of her garments were just divine.
Only a recent graduate from Central St. Martins, Mary's talent shined all the way through her collection. So I ask again, how do you wear your perfume??? Well Katrantzou's women like to wear theirs on their clothing - literally. Her motif was inspired by many designers perfume bottles and seeing how the bottles represented the female form, she thought it would be interesting to put two and two together and see how that would appear as a whole. It sure worked as watching those magnificent dresses on the models it just made them look more feminine, strong and defined. Her motif was very clean, colourful and polished, making the dresses even more stricking. Their newness and wearability must have won plenty of takers on sight I'm sure. An impressive delivery topped off with fluted skirts, long-line tubes, zippered suede pants and new dress shapes. This is just the beginning for the designer who is also gifted in jewellery design, showing her range of giant necklaces contructed from gold tubing, chains and mirrors which just complimented her line fantastically, a true job well done!
