:::DAVID KOMA
For his A/W11 Collection, David Koma was inspired by Japanese artist Yayoi Kusama, who also happens to be a massive fan of polka dots and that's how BIG polka-dot prints turned-out to be a huge feature in this particular collection including circular cut-outs and colourful fur pom-poms sewn onto shoulders, hips, arms and anywhere else they could fit - I actually enjoyed this idea very much as it turned a sophisticated collection into something young and fun with the simple application of a pom-pom and a splash of colour - I bet Ri-Ri & Gaga will soon be all over this collection as we know how they love their seasonal fix of Koma.
:::BOKA AKSU
This seasons at Bora Aksu featured heavy layers and armored bodices, stiff capes and deconstructed tailoring. As highlighted by Bora and proven quite evident in the display itself; It was clear that traditional menswear tailoring had played a big role in this collection if not been the starting point.
For a collection that seemed well thought and put together it however was slightly more heavier and textured than Aksu's usual signature. And though darker than normal, there was a lovely regular injection of emerald green through-out the collection - It created a nice tonal balance and was quite fleshing to see a bit of colour in the midst of all those neutral and dark shades.
